Head, Category Management [Projects Equipment's]

About the Role
Lead and manage high-value, business-critical categories across the entire Group Companies, providing necessary support to the Category Management and Strategic Sourcing Personnel. Drive the culture of end-to-end Category Management, including Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Excellence, Supplier Performance Management support, and In-Country Value (ICV). This role involves developing strategies to manage billions of US Dollars of third-party spend across the sector throughout the Group.

You will direct Category Management and Strategic Sourcing Personnel, managing cross-functional teams of 5-50 members to develop and implement multibillion-dollar commercial strategies aligned with the Group’s business priorities and values. You will assist in developing the Sector Strategy and aligning it with senior management, ensuring full end-to-end value is considered in all category strategy developments.

Key Accountabilities
Job Specific:
Category Management

• Lead multiple complex, strategic categories in parallel with limited supervision.
• Accountable for the full Category Management life cycle from strategy development, sourcing, implementation, and supplier management.
• Collaborate with Procurement functions including planning, purchase-to-pay (P2P), warehousing, and ICV to identify and implement synergies.
• Lead workshops with suppliers to identify value through integrated planning and technology adoption.
• Support Category managers in establishing cross-functional Category Management Teams to design and implement strategies that generate value and financial savings.
• Plan and execute strategies for categories that align with business plans, identifying Global Category priorities.
• Develop Category Strategies to achieve business objectives, reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) through standardization and enhancing supplier performance.
• Maintain an ADNOC category spend map and develop a 12-month and 5-year Sector Strategy.
• Perform market and supplier analysis in coordination with the Market Intelligence Team.
• Direct segmentation and selection for Key/Strategic Categories and Suppliers, identifying relevant sourcing levers.
• Guide development of Category Strategy options, analyze feasibility, and review contracting strategies.
• Train teams in advanced procurement tools to implement the Category Strategy.
• Define evaluation criteria for tenders, incorporating Total Cost of Ownership and ICV considerations.
• Monitor Supplier Performance and coordinate improvements under Framework Agreements.
• Ensure timely maintenance of sector files and records.
• Lead project management efforts within Category Management Teams.
  Tendering Process & Board Submissions
• Ensure alignment of tender documents with the Category Strategy.
• Support the Strategic Sourcing Personnel in effectively managing the tendering process.
• Conduct commercial and technical evaluations in line with established guidelines.

Contract Management

• Collaborate with teams to execute framework agreements and advise on contractual terms.
• Work with respective functions to review Change Orders and claims, ensuring appropriate recommendations.
• Promote transparency and ethical business practices with suppliers.
• Support end-users throughout various contract stages.

Supplier Management

• Manage relationships with key suppliers across categories, leading Supplier Management deployment.
• Develop Supplier Management Plans and prepare for performance review meetings.
• Provide data for monitoring and control reports measuring performance against objectives.

ICV

• Work with the ICV team to enhance opportunities within categories.

Generic Accountabilities

• Plan and supervise activities to achieve departmental objectives efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Develop employee knowledge and competencies, focusing on UAE National talent as part of Emiratization.
• Monitor departmental budgets and investigate expenditure variances.
• Implement approved policies, processes, and controls to meet operations standards.
• Manage individual performance according to the Company Performance Management System.
• Review the organizational structure to optimize human capital.
• Encourage innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support HSE culture and compliance with policies and legislation.
• Prepare management information system (MIS) and progress reports.

Communication & Working Relationship

• Maintain regular contact with stakeholders across Directorates, Functions, and Group Companies.
• Communicate regularly with suppliers and shareholders.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

• At least 12 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas, including a minimum of 5 years in Category Management.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and with all organizational levels.
• High critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills with strong analytical abilities.
• Strong negotiation and contract preparation skills.
• Knowledge in conflict avoidance and contract dispute resolution.
• Excellent communication skills for persuasive presentations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
