Head - Quality Assurance

The Head of Quality Assurance will assist the Group Head - ISAG in Shari’a audit excellence and governance oversight to ensure compliance with Shari’a rules and regulations based on International Internal Audit (IIA) standards. This role serves as the third line of defense, providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of Shari’a governance, risk management, and internal controls within Shari’a-compliant institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to Higher Shari’a Authority (HSA), AAOIFI standards, and resolutions from the Internal Shari’a Supervisory Committee (ISSC).
• Perform risk-based audit planning to enhance Shari’a compliance, which includes reviewing Fatwas, monitoring implementation of Shari’a controls, and following up on compliance gaps.
• Prepare the Annual Shari’a Audit Plan, update risk ratings, coordinate with business units, and present the plan to the Board Audit Committee.
• Conduct quality reviews on ISA-related documents, including Shari’a Audit Universe, Audit Manual, and Risk Ratings.
• Supervise the i-Shari'a Audit System and ensure the proper implementation and operations of Business Continuity Planning (BCP).

Requirements

• Chartered Accountant / Bachelors from a reputable institute/university.
• 7-10 years of experience in Audit Profession, particularly within Big 4 Audit Firms and/or Islamic Banking Industry.
• Certifications in Internal Audit or Shari’a Audit, such as CIA (IIA) and CSAA (AAOIFI-Bahrain).
• Proficiency in English and Arabic, along with IT skills including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
