About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, primarily known for its platform, Ubuntu. This role involves defining best practices in infrastructure as code at a global scale, enhancing the state of the art technology and operations behind tens of millions of devices running Ubuntu. The Information Systems (IS) team, responsible for all IT operations at Canonical, seeks an IS Architect to design and implement effective hardware and software solutions.
As the IS Architect, you will own the design of technical operations from PCI lanes to CDN. Your work will shape infrastructure using modern operating principles, impacting user experiences for millions globally. You will lead System Reliability Engineers (SRE) and Data Center Engineers (DCE) in adopting best practices and making informed choices on cloud infrastructure and services while coaching the team on automation and security.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the vision for a world-class internal cloud.
  • Maintain and update the technical design roadmap for the SREs to improve reliability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with development teams to set standards and operational procedures.
  • Analyze incidents to identify and mitigate recoccurring issues.
    Requirements:
  • Exceptional academic track record.
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and Linux networking.
  • Experience in incident response and problem resolution.
  • Clear communication skills in English.
    Desired Skills:
  • Strong background in modern software engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with open-source solutions, particularly Ubuntu or Debian.
