As the Information Systems (IS) Architect, you will be responsible for the design of hardware and software implementation, impacting the Ubuntu user experience for millions of users. You will lead System Reliability Engineers (SRE) and Data Center Engineers (DCE) to implement best practices in cloud infrastructure and services. This position involves coaching the IS team on automation, reliability, operational and technical scalability, network infrastructure, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, get buy-in, and implement a holistic vision of a world-class internal cloud.
- Maintain and update the technical design roadmap for the IS team.
- Collaborate with cloud-ops development teams and provide input for roadmaps and requirements.
- Advise IS management on technology and operational matters.
- Implement solutions as self-service products, ensuring scalable operations.
- Automate operations for reuse across major companies.
- Design service architecture, documentation, and operational procedures.
- Analyze incident responses and implement structural improvements.
Language Requirements:
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English over multiple platforms.
Work Conditions:
- This is a home-based position with twice-annual travel to company events totaling around 4 weeks per year.
What We Are Looking For:
- Exceptional academic track record; undergraduate degree in a technical subject preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
- Practical knowledge of Linux networking and experience with production outages.
- Passion for writing, sharing, and maintaining enterprise open-source solutions.
- Familiarity with open-source communities, especially Ubuntu or Debian.
