We are seeking an Information Systems Architect to define best practices in infrastructure as code on a global scale. This role is critical in advancing our infrastructure that supports millions of devices running Ubuntu.

As the IS Architect, you will lead System Reliability Engineers (SRE) and Data Center Engineers (DCE), ensuring they embrace best practices and make informed decisions regarding technology choices in cloud infrastructure and services. You will coach the IS team on topics such as automation, reliability, operational/technical scalability, network infrastructure, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement a holistic vision for a world-class internal cloud.
  • Develop and maintain the technical design roadmap for SREs to enhance reliability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to refine roadmap, requirements, and operation standards.
  • Advise IS management on technology choices and reliability strategies.
  • Automate operations for large-scale and distributed systems.
  • Analyze incidents to identify structural improvements and prevent recurrence.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic record from high school and university, or a compelling alternative path.
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject.
  • Confidence in sharing feedback and ideas.
  • A proactive approach to achieving outstanding results.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
  • Experience in incident response and postmortems.
  • Strong communication skills in English (both spoken and written).
  • Passion for open-source software, particularly Ubuntu or Debian.

Preferred Skills:

  • Background in modern software engineering practices (e.g., peer review, unit testing, CI/CD).
  • Experience in automating the administration of enterprise Linux servers at scale.
