Instrument Technician (CAT B)

About the Role
As an Instrument Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance of various instruments within the operations of a Fertilizer Plant. This position requires hands-on experience with a range of instrumentation, including transmitters, switches, analyzers, and vibration measurement devices. Your work will involve troubleshooting, maintenance, and adherence to safety standards in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance of the following types of instruments:
  • Transmitters (Pressure, Level, Flow, Temperature)
  • Switches (Pressure, Level, Flow, Temperature)
  • Analyzers (pH and Conductivity)
  • Vibration Instrumentation (Accelerometers, Velometers, Proximity Probes, Speed Probes, Proximitors)
  • Valves (Control Valves, On-Off Valves, Solenoid Valves)
  • Valve Accessories (Solenoid Valves, Valve Pneumatic and Electropneumatic Positioners, Pneumatic Relays, Air Regulators and Filters, Lubricators)
• Proficient in using hand tools and test instruments for calibration, troubleshooting, configuration, and testing of instruments.
• Skilled in the removal, installation, and adjustment of vibration probes according to machine requirements.
• Demonstrate proven competency and experience as required in the relevant scope of work.
• Possess basic report-writing skills and effective communication abilities in written and spoken English.
• Understand and adhere to safety requirements specific to working in a Fertilizer Plant.
• Be well versed in work permit systems used in large-scale process industries.
• Have an awareness of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) utilized in a Fertilizer Plant.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma in a relevant trade (12+3 years of education).
• A minimum of 5 years relevant hands-on experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Fertilizer industry with demonstrated competency.
