The Investment Associate (International Listed Investments) supports the Portfolio Manager in managing a diversified, multi-asset global portfolio spanning equities, fixed income, and alternatives, including hedge funds. This role is primarily focused on manager research and fund selection, complemented by tactical trades. The Associate will source, evaluate, and monitor third-party managers and funds across developed and emerging markets, assessing their investment process, track record, risk, and performance. They provide evidence-based recommendations to support portfolio construction and capital allocation, prepare investment memos and due diligence assessments, and contribute to the ongoing performance monitoring of existing managers.

The Associate will also develop a sound understanding of global markets, analyze macro and market developments, and translate these into actionable allocation, rebalancing, and tactical trade ideas aligned with the firm’s investment mandate. They will prepare quarterly and annual strategy notes and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support MIS reporting, portfolio risk profiling, board presentations, and qualitative performance updates.

Success in this role requires strong investment acumen, advanced analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Proficiency in Bloomberg, VBA, and AI tools is essential, and experience with Morningstar and Addepar is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide active support to the PM in the origination, assessment, selection, and execution of investment opportunities across the international listed portfolio, focusing on fund selection.
  • Perform due diligence and analysis on prospective managers and funds across equities, fixed income, and alternatives, including hedge funds, assessing investment process, team, manager viability, peer analysis, track record, volatility, quartile ranking, and absolute and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Prepare clear and concise investment memos and due diligence assessments, highlighting performance, risk, peer group positioning, and the risks and merits of the investment case.
  • Maintain up-to-date coverage of both existing holdings and prospective managers across equity, fixed income, and alternatives, monitoring performance regularly while ensuring that relevant manager documentation and data are collected, organized, and stored.
  • Conduct performance, risk, and sensitivity analysis on the total portfolio, individual positions, and new opportunities.
  • Monitor global financial markets to understand macro and market developments, shifting trends, and relative opportunities across asset classes, sectors, and geographies.
  • Generate tactical trade ideas and actionable allocation and rebalancing suggestions for the international listed portfolio.
  • Attend meetings and events with external counterparties, including banks, advisors, and third-party managers, to generate fund and tactical trade ideas and to deepen market understanding.

Reporting

  • Support the PM in periodic quantitative and qualitative performance reporting on the portfolio, including manager performance reports.
  • Assist the Operations Department with quarterly reporting, portfolio risk profile presentations, Board presentations, and provision of portfolio information.

Other

  • Support the PM in the ongoing improvement of the investment framework and process.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal portfolio management and analysis tools.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics; other disciplines will be considered with relevant experience or a CFA charter.
  • CFA charterholder preferred.
  • 4 to 7 years of investment experience in portfolio management or fund selection, with a focus on public markets and/or alternative investments.
  • Experience gained at a family office, multi-family office, or asset manager.
  • Candidates with a background in performance or risk management will also be considered, provided they demonstrate a strong investment orientation and hold the CFA charter.
