Our goal in the Internet of Things (IoT) domain is to enable companies to develop fleets of highly secure connected devices. Canonical offers the foundational Ubuntu OS and kernel along with secure update and management mechanisms. Our Field Engineers are critical in addressing complex problems for our clients, helping them achieve their technical and business goals through innovative open source solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services.
- Collaborate remotely while managing a team across multiple time zones.
- Coach and mentor team members, providing career development feedback.
- Identify and measure team health indicators.
- Represent your team to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Develop and promote excellent engineering practices.
- Manage progress on agreed goals and projects as part of the leadership team.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic record with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Extensive experience with embedded Linux, particularly Yocto or other distributions.
- Strong proficiency in Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
- Fluency in at least one programming language (Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust).
- Experience in managing a small team.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a result-oriented mindset.
Desirable Traits:
- Experience with RTOS.
- Additional language proficiencies (both programming and human languages).
- Previous experience working in a remote-first, diverse, distributed company.
