Jobholders at this level are responsible for leading work activities and working autonomously with minor direction towards predetermined long-term objectives. They may act as internal consultants and facilitators by providing guidance to deliver and perform operational activities. The main operational role includes providing expert support in the development of IT infrastructure and systems design and capabilities. This includes leading the development of IT infrastructure and systems RFPs, supervising the assessment of change requests related to IT infrastructure and systems, and reviewing the actual performance of the company IT infrastructure and systems components against a set of KPIs to provide recommendations for improvement.
Job Responsibilities
Infrastructure and Systems Design
- Follow the latest trends and cutting-edge technologies, collect business and technical requirements, assess the current company IT infrastructure and systems, identify design gaps and challenges, and develop new detailed IT infrastructure and systems design ensuring all business requirements are addressed.
- Conduct requirement gathering sessions with all stakeholders, interpret the requirements to finalize the development of RFPs related to IT infrastructure and systems, and contribute to the evaluation and selection of vendors based on set criteria in cooperation with relevant functions.
- Receive change requests related to IT infrastructure and systems, conduct proper analysis and prioritization of the received change requests, provide recommendations, and set a schedule for implementation in cooperation with relevant functions.
- Collect needed inputs to conduct IT risks assessment and analysis that could occur through the introduction of new technology and collaborate with IT Infrastructure & Networks Planning & Monitoring to develop the needed risk mitigation plan.
- Receive periodical reports on the actual performance of company IT Infrastructure and systems against a set of KPIs, analyze the performance reports, and provide recommendations to improve the IT infrastructure and systems performance.
Organization and Operations
- Follow all relevant policies, processes, and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Help in solving escalated problems and provide needed support for junior team members to ensure work is carried out efficiently.
- Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure cases/issues are closed properly.
- Perform other duties as requested.
People Management
- Train junior staff on the different job activities to ensure the transfer of know-how, when applicable.
- Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibility, and monitor the workflow of subordinates/junior staff.
- Support junior staff or direct reports in order to execute their duties according to set policies and processes.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent is required.
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent is preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
