IT Lecturer

About the Role / About the Job:
The IT lecturer is tasked with delivering educational programs, engaging in scholarly activities, providing services to Global Business Schools (GBSs), and fulfilling administrative responsibilities. This role is essential in teaching students the foundational principles of technology and equipping them with practical information technology tools relevant to their professional and personal lives.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
• Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
• Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
• Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events within and outside of the institution.
• Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
• Providing support to students and colleagues.
• Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
• Performing periodic reviews of course syllabi to maintain consistency across the faculty in the department.
• Ensuring consistency in course syllabus, weekly plan, assessment methods, and course file management.
• Recording advisement of courses for academically at-risk students and maintaining follow-up action plans for each.
• Ensuring effective instructional skills, communication skills, and subject mastery while proactively detecting early warning signals in classroom management.
• Reviewing student feedback on teaching performance.
• Advising regular students and monitoring at-risk students to improve academic performance.

Essential Skills Required:

• Proficient in Vocational Education: Strong background in delivering vocational qualifications with hands-on, practical experience in IT subjects.
• Familiar with Pearson Unit Delivery: Experience with Pearson’s unit delivery and assessment methods, particularly in Digital Technologies pathways (Cyber Security and AI), is advantageous.
• Expertise in Core and Specialist Units: Knowledgeable in key units including Cyber Security, Programming, Big Data & Visualisation, Cloud Networking, Information Security Management, Artificial Intelligence, Software Development Lifecycles, Risk Analysis & Systems Testing, and Emerging Technologies.
• Industry Experience: Essential to have practical industry experience to guide students in the real-world applications of digital technologies.
• Focus on Student Outcomes: Committed to enhancing student performance through effective teaching, assessment, and feedback aligned with vocational qualification standards.

Qualifications Required:

• Master’s Degree as per position requirements.
• PhD preferred.
• Ideally 5 years of teaching experience and IT-related role in higher education.
• Certification in IT-related courses.
• Proven track record in academics and research.
• A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the competency to interact with people at all organizational levels.
