Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree.
Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in IT Operations.
Scope of the Job
- Running all operation tasks on all mission-critical banking applications.
- Monitor and ensure service availability 24/7.
- Take data backup of all business applications.
- Ensure data replication from main sites to disaster recovery site (Bahrain and London).
- Escalate user-reported and system/application faults.
- Take over first-level help desk responsibility after normal working hours.
- Support other IT teams.
Areas of Knowledge / Experience
- Data center operations experience in monitoring, incident handling, and escalation.
- Experience in the banking domain or financial institutions.
- Working knowledge of databases such as Oracle and SQL Server.
- IT certifications in Windows, Linux, SQL, etc., are advantageous.
- Non-IT certifications like ITIL are a plus.
Principal Responsibilities
- Running IT operations tasks such as End of Days, Start of Day, backups, restores, and replication.
- Knowledge of bank operation procedures to support around-the-clock banking operations.
- Proficient in operating systems including Windows, Solaris, and Linux.
- Understanding of hardware components and their functions.
- Familiarity with bank data replication procedures.
- Ability to use help desk applications effectively.
- Management and maintenance of backup and restore procedures.
- Monitor database performance and tune memory, I/O, SQL, etc., escalating as necessary.
- Perform database recovery in case of failure.
- Activate and operate disaster recovery centers.
- Monitor and escalate database growth and disk space issues.
- Monitor and escalate alert log files for potential database problems.
- Monitor both offline and online cold backups using Veritas NetBackup and VEEAM software.
- Monitor alerts and job flows on Control-M.
