The Person

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification.
  • CompTIA Certifications: A+, Network+, Internet+, Server+, Security+ etc.
  • Microsoft Certification in Azure, Sharepoint, AVD, Microsoft 365 would be an asset.
  • Cisco or Fortinet/Fortigate Certifications would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Knowledge and experience of server and desktop operating systems (Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems).
  • Knowledge and experience in Azure, Sharepoint, AVD, Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledge and experience of IP based (VOIP) telephony and related protocols including power over Ethernet (POE) technology especially with Mitel systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of network security protocols, firewall and VPN technologies, SSL, and encryption protocols.
  • Knowledge and experience with networking equipment such as routers and switches especially in a Cisco or Fortinet environments.
  • Strong understanding of workstation operating systems as well as Network Operating Systems, group policies and active directory.
  • Strong Understanding of networks: Local, Wide Area, VPN, Wireless.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills.

The Role

  • Support the operation of CG United Insurance Ltd. by ensuring that all computer systems, workstations as well as hardware and software under the control of CG are adequately maintained and functioning.
  • Ensure that IT related incidents and requests are entered in the Help Desk system and are addressed, and all user complaints are responded to within the department’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.
  • Set up and configure workstations with IT equipment according to organizational requirements.
  • Set up new users – Networking, Desktop Computers, laptops, telephone, email, folder access and Insurance Application Systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software user problems. Troubleshoot Network, Telecommunication, System, PC, Phones, Printers, Scanner problems.
  • Complete Hardware maintenance and protection (scheduled and emergency) for Desktop computers, laptops, printers, projectors, televisions and telephones.
  • Ensure all employees are correctly represented in the Global CG Address Book with correct names, email addresses and job titles.
  • Procure and track Inventory of IT equipment and consumables.
  • Liaise and follow up with Head Office on Networking, Telecommunications and Systems Issues (hardware and software).
  • Assist with the Administration of the PBX system.
  • Ensure that all computers/laptops are fully functional and available for use by staff during scheduled operating hours.
  • Provide Orientation and Training on email, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Telephone and Voicemail features and usage to new users.
  • Provide training to users on new IT software used group wide such as Team etc.
  • Liaise with local technology providers, where necessary, to ensure adequate provisioning and maintenance of IT related products and services.
  • Provide IT support for projects and initiatives.
