Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree.
Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in IT Operations.
Scope of the Job
- Running all operation tasks on all mission-critical banking applications.
- Monitor and ensure service availability for 24x7 hours.
- Take data backups of all business applications.
- Ensure data replication from main sites to disaster recovery sites (Bahrain and London).
- Escalate user-reported issues and system/application faults.
- Take on first-level help desk responsibilities after normal working hours.
- Support other IT teams as needed.
Areas of Knowledge / Experience
- Data Center Operations experience, including monitoring, incident handling, and escalation.
- Experience working within the banking or financial institutions domain.
- Working knowledge of databases like Oracle and SQL Server.
- IT certifications in Windows, Linux, SQL, etc., will be an added advantage.
- Non-IT certifications like ITIL are a plus.
Principal Responsibilities
- Running IT operations tasks such as End of Days, Start of Day, backups, restores, and data replication.
- Familiarity with banking operation procedures to provide continuous support to the bank.
- Knowledge of operating systems including Windows, Solaris, and Linux.
- Understanding of hardware components and their functions.
- Knowledge of bank data replication procedures and processes.
- Proficient in the use of Help Desk applications.
- Management and maintenance of backup/restore procedures.
- Monitoring database performance and tuning memory, I/O, and SQL, escalating when necessary.
- Execute database recovery in the event of a failure.
- Knowledge of activating and operating disaster recovery centers.
- Monitor and escalate database growth and disk space issues.
- Oversee alert log files for potential database problems.
- Monitor offline and online cold backups using Veritas NetBackup and VEEAM software.
- Monitor alerts and job flows on Control-M.
