Position

The company is looking for an amazingly talented ITS Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will support the Resident Engineer in all administrative, technical, and operational aspects of Intelligent Transportation Systems, overseeing design input, specification compliance, deployment, testing, and integration of ITS elements such as RVDS, Bluetooth sensors, CCTV, DMS, and related components. The role includes reviewing and recommending approval of FSDDs, test plans, shop drawings, and material submissions, ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents, coordinating with other disciplines and contractors, monitoring safety and workmanship, preparing minutes and correspondence, maintaining photographic documentation, assisting with variation and change order evaluations, and verifying as-built documentation and final inspections to ensure proper implementation and handover of all ITS works.

Responsibilities

  • Support and supervise ITS design input, specification compliance, installation, testing, and integration across major infrastructure projects, ensuring all works meet contractual and technical requirements.
  • Review and recommend approval of FSDDs, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and test plans, while coordinating the installation of ITS devices, fiber networks, power systems, and related civil foundations.
  • Conduct routine site inspections to verify workmanship, safety, and compliance with approved designs.
  • Oversee and witness FAT, SAT, prototype tests, OTDR fiber tests, communication and power tests, and reliability testing, preparing and closing punch lists prior to handover.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of approvals, changes, correspondence, and photographic records, supporting the Resident Engineer with variations, claims, as-built verification, O&M documentation, and final system commissioning.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision of systems design input, specification interpretation, deployment, testing, and integration of traffic system components, such as RVDS, Bluetooth, CCTV cameras, Dynamic message signs, and ITS component-related installations.
  • Review and approve integration and systems test plans.
  • Review and recommend to Sr ITS Specialist for approval of FSDD.
  • Ensure the Contractor’s compliance with the Contract Documents.
  • Ensure all workmanship and materials are inspected.
  • Ensure coordination with other Contractors.
  • Review and approve the Contractor’s shop drawings.
  • Support RE to check personnel, equipment, and material costs for all Variation Orders and Change Orders required under the terms of the Contract.
  • Inspect safety conditions and inform the Contractor of construction safety violations and follow up action to be taken.
  • Attend all ITS-related meetings and prepare written minutes for distribution.
  • Review correspondence and prepare responses for signature.
  • Provide all photographs before, during, and after construction necessary to provide adequate documentation of changes in site and adjacent structures.
  • Provide a “punch list” and final inspection.
  • Check and approve “as-built” drawings submitted by the Contractor and maintain a status log.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience for Engineer.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communications, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering (with ITS experience), or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Strong understanding of ITS technologies (CCTV, RVDS, RWIS, Bluetooth, DMS, C-ITS, LIDAR, AI-detection), fiber optic networks and IP communication, power distribution for ITS.
  • Knowledge of Local RTA/SRTA standards and procedures, cybersecurity and network architecture, traffic engineering concepts, excellent knowledge of ITS system architecture and central system interfacing.
  • Strong design capability using CAD, GIS, and design tools.
  • Ability to interpret civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of project management and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • CCTV over networks background and familiarity with VM, Linux, and Windows environments.
  • CCNA Certification is a plus.
