We are seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the development of Juju, a large open-source Go project that serves as the engine behind model-driven operations for complex software on various platforms including public cloud, private cloud, Kubernetes, and bare-metal. Juju enables applications and infrastructure management, and many teams depend upon it to deliver their products and services.
Work Conditions: Full-time, Globally remote role with travel requirements (2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events)
Responsibilities:
- Design, deliver, and support features in a highly concurrent, distributed system driving cloud automation and software operations at scale.
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
- Debug issues and interact with upstream communities.
- Work with talented engineers across diverse fields and discuss ideas to find effective solutions.
- Work from home with scheduled global travel.
Requirements:
- Experience in software development using Go.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written), particularly in online environments.
- Strong academic track record from high school and preferably university.
- Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
Additional Skills (optional):
- Hands-on experience developing highly concurrent distributed systems.
- Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes).
- Solid networking background.
- Experience with agile methodologies and Linux/open-source software.
- Knowledge of configuration management software (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.).
- Working knowledge of cloud computing and software packaging (Debian, snaps).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
