The SANAD lab (سند), meaning "support" in Arabic, is committed to assisting developers as software systems become increasingly intricate. Specializing in program analysis and software analytics, the lab aims to enhance the precision and scalability of static analyses and extract insights from software repositories. Ongoing research projects involve detecting API misuse, analyzing program performance, measuring energy consumption, identifying security vulnerabilities, supporting library migrations, and leveraging large language models (LLMs) for software engineering and static analysis tasks.
Key Responsibilities
As a Junior Research Scientist, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting literature reviews
- Collecting and analyzing data
- Implementing tools and running experiments
- Writing papers
This position offers an excellent opportunity to refine your research skills and build a publication record, particularly valuable if you are contemplating pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree.
Position Details
- Expected start date: ASAP (e.g., October 2026)
- Contract duration: 9-10 months
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree with less than 5 years of research experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (with coursework/projects in software engineering)
- Excellent programming skills
- Strong software engineering skills, including familiarity with version control systems, continuous integration, and testing
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in software engineering research
- Knowledge/experience in the use or development of generative AI, particularly in relation to large language models for software engineering tasks
- Previous software engineering paper submission or publication is advantageous
