Junior Software Developer - Observability

About the Job:
the company is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, known for its popular platform, Ubuntu. This role is part of the Observability team, where you will develop a cloud-native monitoring stack that utilizes best-in-class open-source monitoring tools. The stack is designed to be resilient and scalable, offering deep insights right out of the box, with an emphasis on smooth user experience for end-users and easy operations for administrators.

As a Junior Developer, you will have the opportunity to work on monitoring applications running on various technologies, including Kubernetes, OpenStack, bare-metal, virtual machines, and containers. You will also interact with multiple data sources to enhance the contextualization of collected telemetry and insights.

Work Conditions:

• Remote position based in the EMEA and Americas regions.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team.
• Work from home with global travel required for 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events.
• Participate in conferences to represent the company and the Charmed Observability Stack.

What We Are Looking For:

• Proven track record in Python and/or Go.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
• Interest and experience in open source technology, Linux, Kubernetes, and observability.
• Ability to write, test, and document high-quality code, debug issues, and engage with a vibrant community.
• Preference for candidates with knowledge of technologies such as Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, and distributed systems.

Language Requirements:

• Proficiency in English (additional languages may be a plus but are not specified).
