Junior System Administrator (Monitoring Team)

About the Role
As a Junior System Administrator, you’ll help maintain the health and reliability of products and infrastructure in a monitoring-focused operational environment. You’ll respond to a high volume of alerts, investigate issues using monitoring tools, and resolve or escalate incidents according to established procedures. The role offers hands-on exposure to Linux and Windows environments, as well as monitoring platforms such as Grafana and Zabbix. You’ll work alongside primary and senior duty administrators and contribute to incident response when critical issues arise. After onboarding, you’ll take ownership of primary duty shifts while collaborating with a distributed international team. This is a strong opportunity to deepen your systems administration and monitoring expertise in a structured, remote-first environment.

Accountabilities

• Monitor the health and performance of products and infrastructure, responding to approximately 150–250 alerts during a typical shift.
• Investigate incoming alerts using Grafana dashboards, Zabbix metrics, internal documentation, and established troubleshooting procedures.
• Resolve identified issues when possible and escalate incidents to the appropriate technical teams when further support is required.
• Follow runbooks, operational instructions, and established processes when performing first-level troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers and investigate common infrastructure and monitoring issues.
• Support primary and senior duty administrators during day-to-day operations and participate in response activities during major incidents.
• Take responsibility for primary duty shifts independently after completing the onboarding process.
• Collaborate effectively with a distributed team working across multiple locations and time zones.
• Maintain accurate and responsible operational practices, paying close attention to alerts, incidents, and follow-up actions.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in system administration, infrastructure monitoring, NOC/duty operations, technical support, or a related technical role.
• Confident Linux command-line skills, including connecting to systems through SSH/VPN, navigating hosts, and executing Bash scripts.
• Hands-on user-level experience with Zabbix and Grafana, including working with metrics, hosts, host groups, and dashboards.
• Solid understanding of monitoring fundamentals and basic infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for issue tracking, documentation, and team collaboration.
• Ability and willingness to work a rotating schedule, including a standard 5/2 schedule with 8-hour shifts and 2/2 day-and-night shifts when covering for the primary duty administrator.
• English proficiency at B1 level or higher, with sufficient communication skills to collaborate with an international technical team.
• Strong attention to detail and a responsible, reliable approach to operational work.
• Ability to follow established procedures while remaining capable of identifying issues and escalating them appropriately.
• Willingness to learn, develop technical expertise, and take increasing ownership of monitoring and infrastructure operations.
