We are seeking an industry veteran who possesses a broad range of experience across the software stack. The successful candidate will take charge of the implementation from concept through delivery, requiring strong leadership skills, a detail-oriented approach, and strict adherence to project timelines. While prior Linux kernel internals development experience is not mandatory, a strong understanding of the build system is essential, along with advanced git usage and kernel patching experience.

What the Role Entails:

  • Lead the design and implementation of an advanced automated Linux build control system.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams for seamless deployment within the company ecosystem.
  • Analyze kbuild, kconfig, and make to resolve issues effectively.
  • Innovate and propose solutions for kernel build challenges and drive acceptance to upstream.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Significant programming proficiency in Python, with strong C skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in patching and configuring the Linux kernel; solid working knowledge of kconfig and git is required.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Background with popular open-source projects for creating custom Linux-based distributions, such as Yocto or buildroot.
  • Strong grasp of git.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in JavaScript or Golang programming.
  • Proficiency in writing CLI tools, including interactions with REST APIs.
  • Background in CI/CD processes and automation.
  • Experience with software packaging formats, particularly Ubuntu/Debian/Snap.

Work Conditions:

  • Work will be home-based in the Europe, Middle East, or Africa regions.
  • Distributed work environment with in-person team sprints twice a year.
