As a Genetic Lab Specialist, you will be instrumental in performing and supervising diagnostic genetic testing. Operational Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform various molecular testing procedures including but not limited to PCR, NGS, FISH, RT-PCR, and Karyotyping.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or the reporting of test results; correct these problems or promptly notify the Molecular Genetics Consultant and/or Chief Technologist.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications of the laboratory.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient files and individual logs.
- Identify complex problems, review relevant information, and develop, evaluate, and implement solutions.
- Manage documentation for quality assurance, controls, maintenance logs, and results entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Maintain and assure the integrity of data by calibrating and cleaning equipment, changing parts, and running control samples through equipment for quality control.
- Comply with safety standards, quality control measures, and requirements set by accreditation agencies such as CAP, CBAHI, and JCI.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or equivalent medical laboratory sciences.
Certifications
- SCFHS Classification and Saudi MOH Licensed.
- American Pathologist Board of Certification (BOC) ASCP or equivalent preferred.
Years of Experience
- Completion of a structured internship or clinical training program.
- Minimum 9 years of experience in a licensed medical facility/clinical laboratory as a Lab Medical Technologist, which includes at least 5 years of experience in PCR, qPCR Sanger, NGS, and/or microarray, or molecular pathology.
Languages
- English: Fully Proficient.
- Arabic: Not Required.
