The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in native Android development using Kotlin, alongside practical experience in building custom rendering and visualization capabilities. A strong knowledge of 2D and 3D graphics, spatial transformations, rendering performance, and map-based or spatial visualization systems is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture, technical design, and implementation of complex native Android applications.
- Develop high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and highly testable Android solutions using Kotlin.
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design reviews, engineering standards, and development best practices.
- Design and implement custom visualization, mapping, graphics, and rendering capabilities for Android platforms.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other Android engineers.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of professional experience in native Android application development.
- Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin.
- Proven experience leading technical architecture, application design, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, and RxJava.
- Strong knowledge of rendering optimization, caching strategies, and memory-efficient rendering.
- Proven experience analyzing and optimizing Android rendering performance using performance-analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Production experience with Filament or another Android 3D rendering technology.
- Experience with 3D scene optimization techniques.
- Experience in robotics, SLAM, computer vision, AR/VR, indoor navigation, or mapping platforms.
Technical Skills:
- Android: Native Android, Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack, Jetpack Compose.
- Graphics & Rendering: Canvas, Custom Views, Compose Drawing, Filament, OpenGL ES, Vulkan.
- 3D Graphics: Matrices, Camera Models, Raycasting, Scene Management, Spatial Transformations.
- Performance: Android Studio Profiler, Rendering Optimization, Caching, Memory Management.
