We are hiring a Lead Data Governance Engineer responsible for developing data governance policies, processes, standards, and monitoring in compliance with internal policies and applicable regulatory frameworks, such as GDPR and ISO. The successful candidate will create Python-based tools to automate operations related to data mesh solutions, including data labeling and quality metrics, while adhering to data access management and security best practices.

The Data Governance team in the Commercial Systems unit aims to enable secure and well-governed access to comprehensive datasets that originate from various internal and external data sources within our data mesh. The team utilizes well-known open-source data governance tools like Trino and Ranger.

Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote based in the EMEA region. Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, monitor, and execute data governance policies
  • Design, implement, and maintain tooling for automated data mesh operations
  • Deploy and operate services developed by the team
  • Coach and mentor team members, providing career development feedback
  • Develop and promote excellent engineering and organizational practices

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or compelling narrative of an alternative path
  • Experience with data quality, governance, and security processes and tools
  • Proficiency in software development using Python and SQL
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
  • Result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in performance engineering and security
  • Familiarity with tools such as Airbyte, Ranger, Superset, Temporal, or Trino
