About the Role
We are looking for a Lead Design Engineer, Civil & Structural to oversee and execute projects and support bids in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Lead Engineer will leverage proven experience in design and engineering from the planning stage through to execution. This role encompasses responsibilities such as FEED verification, resource management, development of key deliverables, conducting design reviews, and monitoring project progress.
In this position, you will demonstrate your capacity to maintain proper resource allocation and organize projects effectively, ensuring seamless work sharing and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and clients. You will lead projects as necessary, conduct engineering design reviews, and execute civil structural design deliverables, emphasizing compliance with safety standards, budget adherence, and high-quality outputs. Responsibilities and Duties
- Direct employees and supervise work related to civil/structural and associated projects.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to resolve project-related issues.
- Maintain daily diaries and reports of team members for Line Managers.
- Report on resourcing, technical issues, project progress, and resource performance to management.
- Ensure quality and technical correctness by reviewing all drawings, design proposals, and method statements related to civil/structural works.
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and relevant authorities.
- Convene and chair regular team meetings regarding civil structural work and activities.
- Ensure timely correspondence exchanges and approvals.
- Maintain accurate and complete project records.
- Achieve safety goals and oversee the implementation of safety procedures on the project site.
- Participate actively in health and safety issues as directed by Project Safety Representatives.
- Comply with safety, health, and risk management requirements.
- Provide on-site direction and issue work instructions for civil/structural activities.
- Measure and record performed work, displaying progress against the project timeline.
- Prepare applicable progress reports.
- Participate in bidding and estimation for sales inquiries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas, with at least 8 years in a lead role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with leadership and analytical competencies.
- Ability to manage challenges and pressure during peak project phases.
- Willingness to conduct extensive site surveys during project execution.
- UAE local experience is an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
