Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role
The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for handling engineering design review and analysis assignments typically involving major projects or several smaller, less complex projects. These projects require the fully competent application of conventional knowledge in the oil & gas sector. This role will lead and execute multiple local and international projects and will be responsible for preparing electrical engineering documents and drawings as required for the project and assigned by the Discipline Manager. The ideal candidate should be prepared to be at the forefront of the oil and gas sector and deliver outstanding projects. A hunger for learning and sharing new ideas will be essential for success, along with a strong safety focus as part of their professional skills.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Support the team on process industry-based project design work for smooth execution.
• Assist engineers, Design Manager, and Discipline Manager with the engineering design of the project.
• Ensure verification of source data, concept drawings, and concepts as required.
• Prepare and finalize the Engineering Document Deliverable Register (EDDR) in coordination with all relevant departments/disciplines, ensuring submission dates meet Client/Contract requirements.
• Prepare all electrical-related design deliverables through MS Office, Smart Plant Electrical tools (SPEL), AUTOCAD, Micro-station, and calculation tools like ETAP, cable sizing, lighting calculation (DiaLux), etc.
• Be familiar with relay setting and coordination, CT sizing, etc.
• Additional knowledge in OHL, GIS, EHT, C.P, OLCMS, IPCS, VSD, etc.
• Prepare procurement-related documents such as RFQ, MR, and TBE.
• Review vendor documents to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements; prepare/review design outputs in the form of design computations, drawings, and specifications.
• Review design documents, drawings, etc., issued by various disciplines and design subcontractors, ensuring Client approval.
• Ensure approval of all submitted documents and drawings, coordinating as necessary with the Client.
• Understand and include design requirements for health, safety, quality, and constructability into design deliverables.
• Overall responsibility for inter-discipline coordination and submission of necessary design documents/deliverables and procedures to the Client.
• Be familiar with ADNOC Standards, IEC, BS, etc.
• Participate in E-HAZOP, HAZID, ensuring the design has been carried out in accordance with requirements.
• Ensure compliance with laws and statutory regulations, authority, health, safety, environment, and quality requirements for the project.
• Resolve unclear issues with the Client through technical queries in coordination with inter-discipline leads and managers.
• Coordinate with the procurement department to obtain procurement inputs required for design from vendors and forward them to the design subcontractor.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning, and pre-commissioning.
• Coordinate for the preparation of as-built documents.

Qualifications

• Engineering Graduate (BSc. or MSc.)
• Minimum of 15+ years relevant engineering experience in electrical competence in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Chemical Industries, with at least 8 years in a senior role.
• Must have worked on FEED and EPC projects delivering to ADNOC Onshore.
• Working experience with reputed Engineering Consultants is an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team player, smart-working, problem solver with a can-do attitude.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Arabic is an added advantage.
