The Opportunity:
The Lead Engineer - Storage and Data Protection contributes to the design, leads implementation, and provides Level 3 expert support for large-scale storage infrastructure, ensuring high levels of performance, scalability, reliability, and security. This role acts as a key subject matter expert and technical lead for engineers responsible for block, file, object storage, and backup across Cloud and HPC environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-design, implement and manage PBs-scale block, file, and object storage solutions.
  • Lead the implementation and lifecycle management of storage and backup services.
  • Collaborate with architecture and platform engineering teams on technology evaluation, selection, integration, and solution design.
  • Support the execution of storage roadmaps, standards, and service improvements.
  • Lead capacity planning activities to ensure storage platforms meet current and future demand.
  • Improve storage platform reliability and performance optimization.
  • Evaluate and integrate advanced storage technologies.
  • Define and execute disaster recovery and data protection strategies.
  • Provide level 3 expert support and mentor storage engineers.
  • Create and maintain documentation and improve operational workflows.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale storage platforms.
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team of engineers.
  • Strong experience with software-defined storage solutions.
  • Deep expertise with storage vendors such as HPE, Dell, NetApp, and others.
  • Strong knowledge of storage protocols (iSCSI, S3, NFS, NVMe/TCP).
  • Proficiency in Linux administration and advanced experience with object storage platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native backup and DR solutions is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of backup systems, disaster recovery principles, and data protection strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of encryption, hardening, security controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools.
  • Advanced scripting or programming skills (Python, Go, Bash).
