Autonomous Robotics Research Centre
- Unmanned vehicles in space, in the air, on land, on sea, and underwater offer exciting opportunities to dramatically improve safety, environmental protection and operational effectiveness – at lower cost – in both industrial and mission-critical settings. Our research focus includes:
- UAV research and development, covering platforms, real-time operating systems, perception and communication algorithms, control, and decision-making algorithms
- Autonomous marine and submarine vehicles research and development for different use cases
- Autonomous ground vehicle research and development for on road and off-road use cases
- Swarm architectures for heterogeneous drones and advanced communication networks
- Low-power platforms for nano-size and pico-size UAV classes
- Bio-inspired, evolutionary, and self-organized methodologies
You'll be joining a team that specializes in bringing together diverse technology components to drive our civil aerial robotics projects. We focus on merging the work of research teams to create functioning prototypes that are ready for real-world application. Our primary aim is to transform initial concepts into practical, operational solutions. Responsibilities
- Technical referent overseeing the development and delivery of embedded software, flight control systems, and perception technologies.
- Engage in hands-on work, directly contributing to design, development, and problem-solving activities.
- Direct and coordinate flight control-related projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Encourage team communication and collaboration for seamless integration of different modules.
- Resolve challenges and barriers in project development, ensuring smooth operation.
Necessary Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 7 years in a leadership role within flight control or a closely related field.
- Development Experience: Extensive experience in developing drone autopilots and flight control systems. In-depth knowledge of PX4, Ardupilot flight control stack, and DJI SDKs.
- Simulation Tools: Proficiency with simulation tools such as Gazebo and familiarity with ROS2 for robotics programming.
- Embedded Systems Proficiency: Strong background in embedded systems, particularly in the context of flight applications.
- Languages: Proficient in C, C++, and Python for embedded software development and system programming.
- Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS): Knowledge of RTOS principles and experience in applying them in flight control contexts.
- Integration Skills: Knowledge or experience in integrating computer vision technologies with flight control systems. Experience with OpenCV, CNNs, and depth-cameras.
- Application: Ability to leverage computer vision to enhance flight control capabilities, including navigation, obstacle avoidance, and environment mapping.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
