Key Responsibilities
- Stay current with the latest player trends and apply them when relevant.
- Plan, detail, and supervise the work of Game Designers within your team.
- Ensure the creation of innovative gameplay experiences that align with the game’s vision.
- Conceptualize and develop characters, rules, settings, and stories for new games.
- Manage creative ideation stages from pitching ideas to rapid prototyping.
- Define Game Design Documents (GDD) for various game systems, documenting all details and iterations effectively.
- Review game features to guarantee they are engaging and in line with the GDD.
- Play game updates regularly to provide quality feedback and implement a continuous review and iteration process based on user feedback.
- Foster close collaboration with artists, developers, and other team members.
- Train and mentor junior game designers, promoting the sharing of experiences.
- Advocate for a game developer mindset within the team, beyond just mastering design and technical subjects.
- Communicate and coordinate with the Design Director and production teams to manage project timelines and priorities.
Qualifications and Key Skills
- Expertise in mobile games and free-to-play (F2P) titles, with multiple shipped games.
- 6+ years of experience as a game designer.
- Strong understanding of the gaming industry, market dynamics, and target audiences.
- Proficiency in utilizing KPIs to guide game design decisions.
- Experience with prototype development and shipping games using Unity or Unreal engines.
- In-depth knowledge of Game Design principles and the current gaming landscape.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to create clear and concise documentation.
- Skill in providing constructive feedback and engaging in productive discussions.
- Attention to detail from both technical and artistic viewpoints.
- Proficiency in Excel or scripting languages for maintaining game design configurations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to development.
- Leadership skills that inspire team collaboration.
- A personal passion for gaming, with a keen eye for detail.
- Fast learner with a desire for continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in game design or equivalent preferred.
