In this role, you will lead project teams and play a vital part in resolving production and creative challenges. You will collaborate with the Creative/Game Director and be responsible for building and managing design teams, ensuring that innovative gameplay aligns with the overall game vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay updated with player trends and integrate them into game design.
- Plan, detail, and supervise the work of Game Designers in your team.
- Ensure the team creates innovative gameplay and experiences.
- Conceptualize characters, rules, settings, and stories for new games.
- Manage creative ideation from pitching to rapid prototyping.
- Define Game Design Documents (GDD) for various game systems.
- Review game features to ensure alignment with GDD.
- Play game updates to provide feedback and conduct quality control.
- Incorporate user feedback into game design and features.
- Collaborate with artists, developers, and team members for alignment.
- Train and coach junior game designers, fostering experience sharing.
- Advocate a game-developer mindset within the team.
- Communicate team production capacity to assist in task prioritization and scheduling.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- Expertise in Mobile and Free-to-Play (F2P) games with multiple titles shipped.
- 6+ years of experience as a game designer.
- Understanding of the gaming industry, market trends, and target audiences.
- Strong knowledge of KPIs and ability to design around them.
- Experience in prototyping and shipping games using Unity or Unreal engines.
- Extensive knowledge of Game Design principles and the gaming landscape.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clear documentation.
- Strong attention to detail from both technical and artistic perspectives.
- Proficiency in Excel or any scripting language for maintaining game design configurations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and intuitive development abilities.
- Passion for gaming and a keen eye for detail.
- Bachelor's degree or College diploma in game design or a related field is preferred.
