The Directed Energy Research Center (DERC) of the company is looking for a Lead Metamaterial Researcher to integrate with the Stealth Division within the Electromagnetic R&D Department. The role may involve occasional overseas travel for short periods, including participation in conferences, supplier or partner visits, and training sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and support across multiple projects, focusing on metamaterial-based solutions for Radar Cross-Section (RCS) reduction or enhancement.
  • Oversee projects involving electromagnetic simulations, measurement techniques, and performance analysis.
  • Develop solutions that meet specific performance requirements for RCS reduction or enhancement.
  • Manage the prototyping process and refine designs based on test results, guiding projects from concept development to final manufacturing.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for performance and reliability.
  • Explore new applications and enhance existing designs for stealth technology.
  • Generate detailed technical reports and maintain accurate documentation throughout project phases.
  • Present findings, progress updates, and recommendations to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Foster open dialogue and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary discussions within the DERC activity domain.
  • Execute other related duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the division.

Skills Required:

  • Strong background in electromagnetic theory and wave propagation.
  • Expertise in metamaterial design, prototyping, and testing.
  • Knowledge of radar cross-section analysis (preferred).
  • Solid foundation in circuit theory.
  • Proficiency in using RF test equipment, including network analyzers and antennas.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS SBR+, CST, or equivalent software.
  • Experience in testing within an anechoic chamber (preferred).
  • Proficiency in signal processing languages such as Python or MATLAB (preferred).
  • Proven experience in leading projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Qualifications:

  • Engineer’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of relevant full-time experience in electromagnetics, circuit theory, or related technologies.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in metamaterial design, prototyping, or testing.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, sharing insights and promoting collaboration.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English is required.
