We are hiring a Lead Python Software Engineer who strives for the highest engineering quality, seeks improvements, continuously develops their skills, and applies them in the workplace. This exciting opportunity involves working with popular software systems, integration technologies, and innovative open-source solutions. The Commercial Systems unit consists of seven engineering teams that collaborate closely with other engineering and business teams at Canonical. The Integrations team, specifically, is responsible for the automation of SAAS user management and the onboarding of new data sources to the data mesh. This entails designing, developing, and operating a Python-based solution for SAAS seat management and expenditure tracking, as well as integrating both internal and external data sources using open-source ETL solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engineering solutions leveraging Python.
- Collaborate with colleagues on technical designs and code reviews.
- Deploy and operate services developed by the team.
- Depending on your seniority, coach, mentor, and provide feedback for career development.
- Develop and promote excellent engineering and organizational practices.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path.
- Proven ability to exceed expectations and achieve outstanding results in software development with Python.
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- A results-oriented mindset with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Performance engineering and security experience.
- Familiarity with Airbyte, Ranger, Temporal, or Trino.
