Working Hours:
This role requires working US Eastern Time (GMT-4/GMT-5) hours to align with our team in Washington, DC (typically ~2:00 PM to 10:00 PM CET / 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM BST).
Compensation:
- 6500 USD to 8000 USD per month
- Contract: Independent Contractor
- Location: Remote (Europe)
What Success Looks Like in This Role:
- Take responsibility for the quality of code and architecture delivered by your team
- Influence and coach the team engineers
- Align your team on goals, outcomes, and timelines
- Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to translate our strategic roadmap into actionable tasks; provide visibility on delivery progress outside your team
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance Golang microservices and frontend applications
- Deliver beautiful, performant interfaces driven by our design system for our customers
- Improve the performance and observability of our services and applications
- Enhance the quality of life of your team and the business through automation, process improvement, or new technologies
About the Team:
- Join a technical team of approximately 30 technologists focused on collecting large amounts of financial data regarding cross-border payments, processing this data, verifying its quality, and serving it to users for informed business decisions.
- A typical team consists of around three engineers and a Product Manager.
- Interact with various stakeholders across the business in addition to your immediate team.
You Should Apply If You Can Confidently:
- Write Golang services and web app backends, deploying them in Docker containers
- Write performant SQL
- Build beautiful, componentized application frontends in React/TypeScript
- Understand clean code principles and the idioms of TypeScript and Go; experience reviewing code based on these principles and establishing team quality standards
- Learn and engage with a new business domain and product
- Communicate complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Discuss your strategies for continuous learning and skill improvement
These Skills Will Help, But Aren’t Essential:
- Experience with applications that use concurrent logic (e.g., goroutines)
- Building CI/CD pipelines, especially with GitLab CI
- Configuration and use of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus and Grafana)
- Familiarity with AI technologies that enhance productivity and efficiency of work
- Experience with MaterialUI
- Using Airflow, Python, Terraform
