As the Lead SQL & Oracle DB Engineer, you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other database technologies. Your key responsibilities will include managing database backup and restore functions, conducting scheduled tests for disaster recovery (DR) availability, and performing MS SQL production database-level performance tuning. You will participate in SQL code reviews for application teams to enforce coding standards, as well as build and report on SQL environment performance and availability metrics, implementing best practices as necessary.

You will assist in the technical analysis and design for current and future projects while writing SQL scripts to extract data efficiently and in a timely manner. Responsibilities also include installing database software on servers as needed and monitoring databases for performance and issues using monitoring tools, ensuring all database servers meet Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
Additionally, you will architect and maintain Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and backup/restore strategies, lead performance tuning, patch management, and complex incident resolution, and manage the Oracle database lifecycle, including provisioning, migration, and upgrades. Ensuring high availability and replication readiness across data centers, you’ll implement automation for routine tasks using Ansible or PL/SQL scripting while ensuring compliance with NCA and NDMO, secure data handling, and auditing. Moreover, you will mentor L2 Oracle engineers and interface with solution architects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically requires 6+ years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role.
- Advanced skills in Oracle 19c+, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and OEM.
- Expertise in SQL optimization and schema tuning.
- Experience in hybrid cloud database setups.
- Knowledge of Ansible or Terraform for automation.
- Strong knowledge of industry-standard database management practices and methodologies.
Other Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification and professional certification in database administration are preferred.
