Snaps are next-generation software packaging and delivery for Linux, designed for safety, security, and robustness. This role requires a strong commitment to quality and performance at the operating system's core, alongside an interest in the software publishing and consumption experience. We value collaboration, peer reviews, good unit/integration testing, and maintainable code. General knowledge and experience with Linux as a developer platform is essential, and experience with Golang is highly desirable.
Location: Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Remote)
Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote, with global travel for up to two weeks, twice a year
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team
- Write high-quality code to create new features
- Debug Linux system-level issues and produce high-quality fixes
- Review code produced by other engineers
- Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding effective solutions
- Ensure robustness in the face of unexpected events, such as power outages
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field
- Professional software development experience using Go, Python, C, or C++
- Knowledge of Linux system-level fundamentals (e.g., cgroups, namespaces, apparmor)
- Commitment to software testing, code reviews, and maintainable code
