Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a globally distributed team and external partners, including silicon and hardware manufacturers.
- Diagnose and resolve kernel issues reported by customers and the community.
- Take responsibility for delivering a variant of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
- Improve tooling and automation for kernel delivery and testing.
- Submit, review, and apply kernel patches in collaboration with upstream maintainers.
Candidate Requirements:
- Significant programming experience in C; familiarity with Python, Golang, or similar languages is advantageous.
- Experience with operating system kernel internals; Linux knowledge is valued.
- Solid understanding of git and software packaging formats, especially Ubuntu/Debian/Snap.
- Knowledge of Linux kernel upstream processes and release cycles.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English, with strong presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel globally twice a year for team events (up to two weeks each).
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Understanding of device drivers and low-level system engineering.
- Experience in performance engineering and security.
- Background in CI/CD processes and open-source project contributions.
