We are searching for a systems software engineer with a passion for software quality, Ubuntu, and the open source community to join our Ubuntu Release Engineering team. This role centers on expanding the set of open source packages we support and secure.

As an Ubuntu Release Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring indicators of quality across the Ubuntu ecosystem.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues in Ubuntu Desktop, Server, and Core.
  • Enhancing our continuous integration processes to ensure Ubuntu’s release and package quality.
  • Reporting on KPIs and providing analytical insights.
  • Developing, enhancing, and automating test cases.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to advance your career in QA while working closely with various teams within the organization.

Work Conditions:

  • This is a remote role with the expectation of international travel twice a year for team events lasting up to two weeks.
  • Full-time position.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in software engineering, Linux, and open source technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Python and Shell scripting.
  • Experience with C/C++ and quality processes.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools and agile development environments.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Experience with Debian/Ubuntu based operating systems and understanding of Debian packaging would be beneficial.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English is typically expected for effective communication across global teams.
