Role Summary / Responsibilities
- Understand customer and business needs to drive desired outcomes alongside your team counterparts (product, design, data).
- Lead, inspire, and empower a talented group of engineers to self-organize, innovate, implement, deploy, and own end-to-end complex software solutions.
- Develop and grow engineering talent through effective mentoring, coaching, and retention strategies in a competitive environment.
- Guide your team to create software solutions that address end-to-end problems within your business domain, delivering value while considering non-functional requirements such as availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.
- Oversee the discovery, planning, and execution processes to successfully deliver customer value in small batches.
What You Need to Be Successful
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably within an Extreme Programming environment (TDD, Pair Programming, Simple Design, and Continuous Refactoring).
- Good understanding of lean/agile values & principles and associated practices.
- 2+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience.
- Experience in building and leading cross-functional, empowered, and self-organized teams of multidisciplinary engineers.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
- Proven experience in stakeholder and dependency management via proactive communication.
- Expertise in Distributed Systems Architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, and RESTful Services) and in designing, implementing, monitoring, and scaling web apps and APIs.
- Familiarity with the full mobile development life cycle and the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies.
- Proficiency in testing with a focus on automated end-to-end quality, cloud platforms (preferably AWS), and standards related to quality, performance, monitoring, alerting, and security.
