The Mechanical Technician works under the direction of the Mechanical Supervisor/Engineer to execute all preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance activities. This includes annual outages and overhauling work on plant equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety adherence.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Comply with safety rules and regulations.
- Perform all maintenance activities in the plant in a timely and safe manner, strictly following maintenance procedures and work instructions. Document maintenance concerns/history for the equipment.
- Report to the Mechanical Supervisor regarding spare parts and consumables needed for maintenance activities; update on the availability of spares to meet maintenance requirements.
- Ensure proper isolation of equipment before maintenance activities, coordinating with the Mechanical Supervisor and local operator.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and perform maintenance on equipment under jurisdiction.
- Install, adjust, inspect, service, and repair various static and rotating mechanical equipment used in power and desalination plants.
- Take responsibility for the proper care of tools, lifting equipment, and any other related devices necessary for assigned tasks.
- Carry out all necessary preparations required for mechanical maintenance on assigned equipment/area.
- Have a working knowledge of equipment operation and associated operating systems.
- Perform 5S housekeeping in the work area.
- Execute other assigned duties as needed.

- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
OR
- Experience as Skilled Mechanical Labor in plants for a minimum of 4 years

Preferable
- Extensive experience as Mechanical Technician in one of the following types: Conventional, Combined Cycle, Cogeneration, Water Desalination (RO, MSF, MED), and Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind Mills).
Required Skills
- General awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environment Management System principles.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, efficiently completing objectives with a sense of responsibility.
- Willingness to work in non-ideal environments, including confined spaces, heights, and around chemicals.
- Understand, practice, and enforce safe work practices related to respiratory protection, elevated work platforms, fall protection, control of hazardous energy (Lockout/Tag-out), fire protection systems, electrical safety, and related operations.
- Knowledge of waste identification, classification, and disposal.
- Understanding of the environmental and health impacts of chemicals used in the plant.
- Familiarity with firefighting equipment and First Aid measures.
- Basic knowledge of power/water plant operational activities.
- Basic computer skills.
Desired Certification / Job Specific Skill / Training
- Awareness/working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 is preferred.
