As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for preparing MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Building Services layouts and detailed 2D drawings, including HVAC, plumbing and drainage, fire fighting, electrical power, lighting, and low current systems. Your work will involve coordinating with MEP Engineers to produce comprehensive design drawings and ensuring compliance with local authority requirements and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare MEP Building Services layouts and detailed 2D drawings based on engineers' markups and design intent.
- Develop schematic diagrams, riser diagrams, single line diagrams (SLDs), and equipment layout drawings.
- Coordinate with MEP Engineers in the preparation of design drawings and details for construction.
- Review drawings for discrepancies, dimensional errors, and inconsistencies, making necessary corrections.
- Create spot details, section drawings, and shop drawings to clarify plans and installation details.
- Ensure MEP drawing coordination with Architectural and Structural drawings, including ceiling coordination and service routing.
- Assist the BIM team in developing MEP models and resolving clashes identified during coordination.
- Prepare as-built drawings based on site measurements and contractor markups for handover.
- Update drawings as per revisions, comments, and RFIs while maintaining proper revision control.
- Ensure drawings comply with local authority requirements (ADM, DMT, Civil Defense, ADDC/TAQA, and others) and project specifications.
- Prepare equipment schedules, material schedules, and cable/pipe/duct schedules.
- Extract quantities and assist in BOQ preparation for MEP components such as pipes, ducts, cable trays, cables, valves, and accessories.
- Conduct site visits for measurements and verification related to as-built purposes.
- Maintain drawing records and documentation in line with company procedures.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an MEP Draftsman.
- Proficient in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit MEP and Navisworks is preferred.
- Sound understanding of MEP systems, symbols, and drafting standards.
- Familiarity with UAE local authority requirements (Civil Defense, ADM, DMT, utility providers) is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Basic knowledge of engineering sizing for ducts, pipes, and cables is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and dimensioning.
- Good coordination and communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid UAE driving license preferred (for site visits).
- Immediate availability or ability to join on a valid UAE residence visa is a plus.
Additional Information
- Proficiency in using modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and other Structural tools.
- Experience with clash detection software such as Navisworks.
- Familiarity with rebar detailing and steel connection detailing standards.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, GA drawings, and construction documents.
- Experience preparing BOQs, schedules, and shop drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
