Microservices & API Developer

About the Role
You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable microservices using Node.js and TypeScript. This role involves building API-first solutions that adhere to REST standards and OpenAPI specifications, as well as deploying and managing containerized applications on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). You will also handle the publishing, securing, and management of APIs through Azure API Management (APIM). Integration of backend services with both internal and external systems using synchronous and asynchronous patterns is crucial. Additionally, you will implement authentication and authorization mechanisms using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and Azure Active Directory. Ensuring high code quality through testing, code reviews, and CI/CD automation is a key responsibility, along with implementing logging, monitoring, and tracing using Azure Monitor and Application Insights. Collaboration with product, QA, DevOps, and architecture teams is essential to achieve project goals.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript for backend development.
• Experience designing and building microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Azure services, especially AKS, API Management, and Key Vault.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes concepts.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of API security best practices and OWASP guidelines.

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with NextJS or similar Node.js frameworks.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures using Azure Service Bus or Event Hubs.
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Experience with performance tuning and scalability in cloud environments.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience Requirements

• 6–8 years of hands-on backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience building and operating microservices and REST APIs in production.
• Practical exposure to Azure, AKS, and Azure API Management.
• Good understanding of Docker, Kubernetes basics, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work independently on features and contribute to design discussions.
