As a Microservices Engineer, you will engage in back-end REST API microservices engineering using Go and Python. This position requires you to have a strong understanding of APIs, microservice design, engineering processes, and DevOps practices. At Canonical, you'll help develop services that support millions of Ubuntu clients, ensuring critical infrastructure reliability globally.

Key Responsibilities:
- Write high-quality, well-designed, and robust software that operates at scale
- Design APIs and software architecture for team review
- Create tests to validate software behavior
- Build and maintain reliable, fault-tolerant applications and services
- Proactively collaborate with a globally distributed team
- Contribute to technical documentation
- Debug and resolve software issues
What We Are Looking For:
- Exceptional academic background with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM
- Proficient in Python and/or Go
- Experience in writing maintainable software and working with database systems
- Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery
- Familiarity with Linux (preferably Debian or Ubuntu)
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a self-motivated attitude
- Ability to travel for company events (up to two weeks each time)
Additional Skills That You Might Bring:
- Experience with container technology (LXD, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of build systems and toolchains
- Experience with public and private clouds
- Knowledge of performance engineering and security
