Responsibilities
- Own the motion and interaction layer of the app, dealing with easing, springs, gestures, transitions, haptics, and sound.
- Evolve the mobile design system, owning the components that other engineers will rely on.
- Partner closely with product designers to enhance motion and interaction design from concept through implementation.
- Profile and optimise rendering performance, especially on lower-end Android devices.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that affect UI responsiveness, including state management and render cycles.
- Raise the standards for excellence across the mobile organization through reviews and writing best practices.
Requirements
- A portfolio demonstrating your interaction design craft, including demo reels, personal sites, or a GitHub repository.
- Deep knowledge of React Native, including experience with Reanimated and profiling UI thread performance.
- Strong sense of motion design, with the ability to critique and articulate design elements effectively.
- Excellent product judgment, capable of translating vague briefs into high-quality outcomes.
- Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance your workflow and increase efficiency.
- Strong written and verbal English skills for effective communication in a globally distributed team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with React Native Skia, shader work, or custom canvas-based rendering.
- Familiarity with Swift or Kotlin to effectively bridge modules.
- Contributions to motion libraries, design systems, or interaction primitives that have been adopted by other engineers.
- A background in visual or motion design, with experience in prototyping prior to coding.
- Previous experience in high-stakes products, particularly in fintech or areas where UI precision is critical.
