We are seeking an Engineering Manager for the BootStack team, which is responsible for designing, building, and operating modern distributed systems on private infrastructure for customers. This role offers a chance for a technologist passionate about Linux and Cloud technologies to grow their career while driving success for those leveraging Ubuntu and other open source products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a growing engineering team to optimize development and operations quality and velocity
  • Identify and measure team health indicators
  • Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes
  • Represent the BootStack team to stakeholders and external teams
  • Ensure team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
  • Meet service level agreements with customer deployments worldwide
  • Deliver quality managed services consistently and timely

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a technology field
  • Proven experience in software delivery using languages such as Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar, and/or managing operations teams
  • Proven experience with OpenStack
  • Strong commitment to testing methodologies and code quality
  • Experience with Linux system administration (Ubuntu/Debian preferred)
  • Strong communication and cooperation skills
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
  • Experience in managing distributed teams
  • Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
  • Familiarity with cloud topologies and technologies
  • Willingness to travel for team events and customer meetings (approximately 20% or less)
