Architecture Overview

  • Application Tier (Multi-Node): Runs Oracle E-Business Suite (or similar enterprise apps) across multiple application nodes handling WebLogic, forms, reports, and concurrent processing.
  • Database Tier (RAC): Runs two or more database instances on separate servers accessing the same database files simultaneously.
  • Storage Tier (ASM): Provides clustered, shared volume and disk group management across all database nodes using Cache Fusion for block synchronization.

Core Administration Tasks

  • Startup & Shutdown Sequence
    • Start Grid Infrastructure / ASM first
    • Start database instances via srvctl
    • Start application tier services across all nodes using respective run/patch file system scripts (startall.sh).
  • Day-to-Day Monitoring
    • Check cluster resource health
    • Check ASM disk group status via asmcmd or SQL queries
    • Monitor multi-node application services status across all application instances.
  • Patching & Maintenance
    • Perform rolling upgrades on RAC database nodes to ensure zero downtime.
    • Apply AD/TXK patches on the application tier while managing multi-node context files.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • Oracle Database administration certification is an advantage.
  • Oracle E-Business Suite / Oracle Applications training is highly desirable.
  • Linux/Unix administration certification or training is beneficial.
  • Cloud/OCI knowledge is an advantage for modern EBS environments.
