About POWERTECH
POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defense, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in the development of gas turbine engine systems design primarily for fuel supply, lubrication, pressurization, sealing, starting, and gearing and driven accessories at the system level.
  • Conduct high-fidelity simulations for fuel supply and lubrication systems to evaluate their behavior at key operating regimes and mission profiles.
  • Understand airframer customer and internal requirements and translate them into engine systems design choices.
  • Integrate the various system-level models into the main engine steady-state and transient performance cycle architectures.
  • Perform system-level steady and transient simulation to assess the dynamic performance, expected response, and stability of the whole-engine cycle.
  • Collaborate with the platform systems and control engineering teams to support the integration of the powerplant with the aircraft systems to ensure engine operability and stability across the entire flight envelope.
  • Conduct trade-off studies to assess the impact of engine system design updates, control strategies, and new technologies on engine performance.
  • Provide support on any engine system required during whole-engine or component testing campaigns and assist with system data collection to validate the numerical system-level models.
  • Develop and implement automation tools for simulation workflows and data analysis.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, engine system decks, and design best practices.

Requirements

  • BEng/BSc & MSc in mechanical, aerospace, electrical engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience or PhD + 4 years minimum experience in the field of engine systems modeling and simulation.
  • Strong experience with scripted languages such as MATLAB/Simulink or Python.
  • Familiarity with at least one engine performance modeling tool (Gasturb, NPSS, TTECTrA).
  • Familiarity with CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent, CFX, Numeca).
  • Excellent analytical, forward-thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Key Skills

  • Knowledge of aero engine performance systems design, modeling, and integration.
  • Experience in the development of low/high-fidelity numerical models for fluid-based (hydraulic and pneumatic) and electrical systems and subsystems.
  • Ability to support engine auxiliary systems during engine or component testing.
  • Ability to work and navigate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to updates on project requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to manage self-projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
