Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform FEED, studies, and detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on complex engineering tasks
  • Apply knowledge and skills to complete varied assignments
  • Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures
  • Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines
  • Complete work within budgetary constraints
  • Clearly communicate and explain information related to engineering activities
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures
  • Gain familiarity with project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements, and identify concerns early
  • Initiate collaboration with other disciplines to obtain input for discipline designs
  • Prepare design calculations as required
  • Be familiar with P&ID Line List, Equipment List, Layout, Piping Specifications, and design basis
  • Perform engineering checks on work prepared by others within the discipline
  • Conduct design verification through single discipline checks and assist with inter-discipline checks (IDC)
  • Provide engineering support as needed
  • Assist in the preparation of subcontract documents
  • Prepare lists of Special Piping Items, Piping, and Valves specifications, and datasheets
  • Review P&IDs concerning Piping Material and Valve specifications
  • Provide input for Linelist, including NDE
  • Perform Pipe Stress Analysis and prepare reports
  • Provide critical pipe support loads to Civil/Structural teams
  • Execute design calculations such as pipe wall thickness, reinforcement pads, trunnion support, etc.
  • Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical queries, Tech Bid Evaluations, and Purchase Requisitions for engineered piping equipment
  • Review vendor data
  • Review Piping MTO concerning Material Requisition
  • Provide input to the Piping Subcontract
  • Alert the team of any deviations from the scope of work or the need for change orders

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Senior Piping Engineer, Lead Engineer
  • Functional: Supervising Department Manager
  • Liaise With: All design/drafting disciplines, all Engineering disciplines, Construction site/Fabrication groups, and Document Control
  • Supervises: Trainee Engineers

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering
  • 3-8 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant, predominantly in detail design
  • Familiarity with the content and application of relevant standards, codes, and guidelines
  • Knowledge of basic design techniques and analysis methods
  • Preferably a Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or a member of a professional engineering society
  • Eager to learn and eager to develop skills
  • Working knowledge of English, both oral and written
  • Committed to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, Total Quality Management (TQM), and cost-consciousness
  • Show flexibility and adaptability concerning:
    • Reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards
    • Replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays
    • Providing assistance to colleagues with heavy workloads from other projects
    • Managing and learning current working methods and software applications
  • Accredited engineering degree as required by specific regions
  • Familiarity with using codes and standards.
