About the Role
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, monitoring, and reporting on the Contractor's planning and scheduling activities for major stormwater, drainage, irrigation, and associated infrastructure projects. The role requires close coordination with the Senior Resident Engineer, Contractor, and Project Team to ensure timely project delivery and effective management of programme risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze the Contractor's baseline programme, recovery programmes, and updated schedules to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify potential delays, risks, and mitigation measures.
  • Evaluate construction sequencing, work logic, resource allocation, and critical path activities.
  • Coordinate closely with Contractor planners and the supervision team to verify actual site progress.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and validate programme updates.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, critical path analyses, and schedule performance assessments.
  • Track and report key project milestones, deliverables, and programme variances.
  • Assist in evaluating Extension of Time (EOT) claims, variations, disruption claims, and recovery plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of programme monitoring and support the assessment of contractual claims and change requests.
  • Provide planning and scheduling support to the Senior Resident Engineer during project meetings, negotiations, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Coordinate with contractors, utility authorities, and project stakeholders to ensure programme alignment and successful project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in planning and scheduling of infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in stormwater drainage, irrigation, roads, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of CPM Scheduling, Critical Path Analysis, and Earned Value principles.
  • Experience in contract administration and claims analysis is preferred.
  • UAE/GCC experience is highly desirable.
