About the job
We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer (Systems) to join a leading international engineering and technology organization delivering large-scale mobility projects in the UAE. This position focuses specifically on the planning and scheduling of complex technical and integrated electromechanical systems such as signalling, telecommunications, SCADA, control systems, power supply, automation, platform or access systems, depot or facility systems, and other integrated technical subsystems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling integrated project schedules, ensuring project milestones are achieved while proactively identifying risks, delays, and recovery opportunities. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Description

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Prepare baseline schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and project execution plans.
  • Monitor project progress against approved baselines and identify schedule variances.
  • Produce weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and management presentations.
  • Perform critical path analysis, schedule impact analysis, and forecast project completion dates.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning teams to ensure accurate planning information.
  • Monitor productivity, earned value, and progress measurement against planned targets.
  • Support risk assessments and develop recovery plans to mitigate schedule delays.
  • Participate in progress review meetings with internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of extension of time (EOT) claims and schedule-related contractual submissions.
  • Ensure planning activities comply with project procedures and organizational standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6–7 years of planning experience specifically within systems, technical systems, or systems integration projects (e.g. signalling, telecommunications, SCADA, control systems, power supply, automation, platform/access systems, depot/facility systems, or other integrated electromechanical systems).
  • Strong expertise in Primavera P6 is mandatory.
  • Solid understanding of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and planning best practices.
  • Experience coordinating schedules across engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with EPC, turnkey, or systems integration projects.
  • Understanding of contractual planning principles and schedule risk management.
  • Candidates who have already completed a DataFlow verification process or hold a valid DataFlow report will be considered an advantage.
