Key Accountabilities
Strategy & Plans
- Develop the plant strategy in line with the company’s Operations and Maintenance strategy to ensure alignment with interfacing departmental strategies.
- Regularly report to the VP / Country Manager on operational activities, challenges, and mitigations.
- Prepare board presentations that include financial figures, warranty issues, and operational statistics.
Financial Management
- Develop the plant’s operating budget and monitor financial performance against it to identify areas for improvement.
- Understand the financial metrics associated with the project to achieve targets on revenue, costs, profitability, and productivity.
Production Planning
- Lead the implementation of operational strategies into mid to short-term production plans, monitoring performance to ensure resource optimization and efficiency.
Operations and Maintenance
- Provide direction to operations and maintenance teams to meet production objectives, offering technical guidance for issue resolution.
- Plan for minor and major changes to maintain a safe working environment and plant efficiency as per approved procedures.
- Ensure contractual obligations with the Project Company are met continuously.
Technical Guidance
- Direct teams on operations and maintenance strategies and oversee investigations to resolve performance deficiencies.
- Provide guidance on potential risk areas to enhance long-term plant reliability.
Supply Chain
- Oversee the inventory identification process and approve purchase requisitions to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
- Manage contractor work to ensure timely completion while adhering to compliance and specifications.
SAP Implementation
- Ensure effective implementation of SAP processes within the plant in all aspects of production planning and material management.
Integrated Management System Implementation
- Establish and monitor IMS objectives and prepare for IMS Certifications to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Assist during IMS audits and implement corrective actions based on recommendations.
Health, Safety, Security & Environment
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental management policies to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
Relationship Management
- Develop effective business relationships with relevant internal and external entities, ensuring prompt attention to critical issues.
Reporting
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate plant reports for the Project Company as per contractual obligations.
- Guide the preparation of periodical statements to keep senior management informed about progress and decision-making.
Policies, Processes, Systems & Procedures
- Develop and implement policies and procedures covering all plant activities to ensure compliance and deliver cost-effective services.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement effective methods for technological advancements and seek improvement opportunities for organizational change initiatives.
Related Assignments
- Perform any other duties as required by the line manager.
People Management
- Monitor the performance of direct and indirect reports and manage recruitment to ensure motivated employees capable of achieving plant objectives.
- Set individual objectives and provide feedback to the team to maximize performance and engagement.
- Lead talent development initiatives to mentor and coach subordinates, fostering growth and competence within the team.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Minimum Experience:
- 12 - 15 years managing a production plant, with operational experience in the power and water desalination sector.
Skills:
- Techno-commercial knowledge and experience with contracts and agreements.
- Extensive leadership, planning, conceptual, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of water desalination and power generation operations.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and teamwork skills.
- Project management and people management abilities.
- Strong organization and integration skills.
