Platform Engineer (Java)

Our Technology team is essential in building the systems and experiences that keep the company moving. We seek a Platform Engineer to contribute to our core backend systems, including the event store and the underlying transactional infrastructure. Your contributions will be utilized across the company, allowing for significant improvements that will benefit the team.

Location: United Arab Emirates (Remote)
Work Conditions: Full-time

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and scaling our core systems
• Writing high-throughput, concurrent code at production scale
• Working on problems that affect multiple teams across Engineering
• Reviewing code and helping other engineers with system design

What You'll Need

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, maths, physics, or a similar field
• Production fluency in Java, or proficiency in another backend language (Kotlin, Scala, Python, Go, etc.) with the readiness to work primarily in Java
• A track record of building core systems or foundational platforms used by other engineers
• Experience with distributed systems at a meaningful scale
• Ability to work well in a team within a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Fluency in English

Nice to Have

• Background in fintech or other high-volume transactional environments
• Experience in a startup or scale-up
• Event sourcing experience in production
• Open-source contributions to frameworks, libraries, or developer tooling
