Job Objective
- Establish and implement the project Weight Control Management Plan.
- Lead all weight engineering activities across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation phases.
- Ensure compliance with project weight and CoG targets.
- Develop and maintain weight control databases and reporting systems.
- Monitor weight growth trends and identify potential exceedances at an early stage.
- Implement mitigation measures to prevent weight and CoG deviations from approved limits.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project Weight Control Management Plan, procedures, and reporting systems for offshore Gas Cap facilities.
- Establish project weight budgets and monitor compliance throughout FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Installation phases.
- Maintain the project Weight Control Register and ensure accurate tracking of equipment, structural steel, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and telecom weights.
- Monitor weight growth trends and identify potential exceedances against approved weight allowances and contingency margins.
- Perform and review weight estimates, weight reports, load summaries, and weight reconciliation activities.
- Manage and verify Center of Gravity (CoG) calculations for offshore topsides, jackets, modules, and associated facilities.
- Evaluate the impact of engineering changes, design modifications, and vendor updates on overall weight and CoG.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Telecom disciplines to ensure accurate weight inputs and reporting.
- Review and approve EPC Contractor and vendor weight control methodologies, calculations, and deliverables.
- Conduct periodic audits of contractor weight control systems to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Support structural engineers by providing accurate weight data for structural analysis, transportation, lifting, and installation studies.
- Participate in 3D model reviews, design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical assurance workshops.
Qualifications
What Makes You Remarkable
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil and gas industry
- Proven experience working on ADNOC offshore projects or similar Middle East offshore developments is highly preferred
- Strong experience in detailed design engineering for offshore oil and gas facilities, including topsides, jackets, modules, platforms, and brownfield modifications
- Extensive knowledge of instrumentation systems, control systems, safety instrumented systems, fire and gas systems, and industrial communication networks
- Proficiency in engineering tools and platforms such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), AVEVA Instrumentation, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, and related design and document management systems
- Sound understanding of international codes and standards, including ISA, IEC, API, NFPA, and relevant ADNOC engineering standards
- Experience with instrument sizing, control valve selection, shutdown systems, hazardous area requirements, and instrumentation installation practices
- Familiarity with SIL assessment, functional safety requirements, HAZOP, LOPA, and cause-and-effect development
- Strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and clients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced EPC/EPCM/PMC environment on multi-billion-dollar offshore projects
- Good communication, technical reporting, and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience within a central engineering or shared services environment is an advantage.
